Willie Rushing

Willie Calvin Rushing, Sr. went to be with his Heavenly Father on March 2, 2008, at Grace Living Center in Wynnewood, Oklahoma after a period of declining health due to the terrible Alzheimer Disease. He was born on July 10, 1937 at Lindsay, Oklahoma to Floyd and Bertha Rushing. He grew up in the Banner Community and attended the Banner grade school through 8th grade, then he attended Dibble High School through the 11th grade. He left school to join the United States Air Force. After spending four years and being stationed in several states, including Hawaii, he returned to make his home on the family farm except for a short time when he lived in Enid, OK and then entered the Nursing Care facility. Willie was a Diesel Tractor mechanic. He worked for others before establishing his own business at his home. He had a love for tractors especially the John Deere Tractor. Willie closed his business late 2005 due to his health. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and treasure hunting. Prior to his health decline he was very active in the Banner Baptist Church. Willie is preceded in death by his father and two sets of grandparents. He is survived by his wife, Geneva of the home, two sons Willie Jr., Michael and wife Shari, his mother Bertha Rushing, Brother Willis and wife Velma, all of Lindsay, Oklahoma. He is also survived by his sister Lila Tenpenny and husband Bill of Mustang, Oklahoma, three nephews and one niece, four grandchildren, six great grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends The family would like to say a "Special" thank you to Dr. Jim Robberson and the nurses and caregivers on the ACU at Wynnewood Nursing Center, for the great care and love shown to Willie and his family during his stay there. Also to Valley Hospice for their wonderful care and concern for the family and to all his friends and church family. In lieu of flowers we would appreciate donations to the Elks Youth Pograms and John and Thelma Howell's dinners in memory of Willie Rushing Sr. Services for Willie will be on Wednesday March 5, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at B. G. Boydston Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be at Green Hill Cemetery in Lindsay, Oklahoma.
