Legacy
Beyond a service, we're committed to helping families create lasting tributes that transcend generations.
As one of the oldest and most recognizable establishments in the area, Wilbourn Family Funeral Home (formerly Boydston) is a stately ode to Lindsay history. Established many years ago, our funeral home has evolved greatly over the years to accommodate the evolving needs of our community. Yet our commitment to service remains the same. Even as we modernize our services and facilities, we stay true to our belief that honoring and celebrating life is deeply sacred and personal.
1930 to 2017
The history of WFFH starts all the way back in 1930 when it was founded, as Browns Funeral Home. They had a vision to serve the community of Lindsay and many years later, it was bought by the Boydstons and was renamed BG Boydston Funeral home. Then, finally, in 2017 the Wilbourn family purchased it and it went from Boydston-Wilbourn Funeral Home to Wilbourn Family Funeral Home.
2017 to Now
Then in 2017, the Wilbourn Family Funeral Home was established and renamed as a way to serve our local Lindsay community in a way no other establishment in the area could. Since then, we have grown to several locations around Oklahoma, including a facility in Alex, and several sister works in Anadarko, Fort Cobb, and Okemah. We are proud to be able to serve the families of this great community.
Families know they can count on us to provide them the comfort they need when they need it most
Scott & Angel Wilbourn
Owners
Wilbourn Family Funeral Home( (formerly known as B.G. Boydston Funeral Home) is under ownership and management, in the capable hands of a local family well acquainted with the funeral profession, and well prepared to provide sincere and superior funeral service to the town of Lindsay and the surrounding communities.
Scott & Angel moved with their four children to Lindsay in December of 2006, when Scott became Pastor of The First Church in Lindsay. Scott had worked for Boydston Funeral Home as a Funeral Director/Mortician since February 1, 2014, and Angel had worked as a volunteer and assisted with funeral services. Since receiving her insurance license from the State of Oklahoma in June of 2014, Angel had also served as the preneed consultant for the funeral home. But their experience in funeral service began many years ago, back in their hometown when they were still in high school.
Scott began working at the age of 16 for Hudson Funeral Home in Holdenville, Oklahoma, in September 1989. Three years later when he married Angel Barksdale on August 8, 1992, his plan was to make the funeral profession his life's work. He and Angel moved to Texas where Scott attended the Dallas Institute of Funeral Service, graduating in February, 1994. The two of them returned to live in Holdenville and Scott went to work for Stout Funeral Home in Wewoka, Oklahoma. Scott worked for Stout Funeral Home from June of 1994 through April of 1996, before moving to Wilburton, Oklahoma, where he managed Jones Funeral Home until June of 1998.
Scott left the funeral profession for a few years beginning in June of 1998, when he formed Happy Home Construction and built and remodeled homes for several years. As the oil business increased in Oklahoma, he went to work as a welder, building drilling rigs for Bronco Drilling until March of 2007, when he became a contract welder for Rinehart Construction in Lindsay in order to work closer to home.
Angel began her college education in 2005, but then put her personal interests on hold for several years while she home schooled their four children, Stephanie, Kurt, Ben, and Mattie. Stephanie and Kurt have both married and settled with their spouses in Lindsay. Kurt and his wife Makayla have two sons and a daughter, Denver, Desmond, and Freya. Stephanie and her husband, Caleb Blankenship have two sons and a daughter, Quentin, Sebastian, and Eliana. Ben has his contractors license in HVAC and recently started his own business Wilbourn's Heating and Air and Mattie is a licensed CNA.
With the task of providing her children's education nearing and end, Angel returned to college in January, 2016. She graduated Summa Cum Laude at the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond, with her Bachelors Degree in Funeral Services. She has now joined Scott full time at Wilbourn Family Funeral Home.
The Wilbourn family have happily been and active part of the Lindsay community from the day they made Lindsay their home. Scott has taken advantage of opportunities to serve in various capacities. He is a reserve police officer for the Lindsay Police Department since November 2012, reserve firefighter for the Lindsay Fire Department since June 2013, President of the Lindsay Ministerial Alliance for the 2016 year, and a member of the Lindsay City Council since April 2016.
Scott has always loved people and loved to serve, and his passion has always been serving people through the funeral business. His family shares his enthusiasm for service to others. Stephanie works full-time and Benjamin works part-time at the funeral home. The entire Wilbourn family is thrilled with the opportunity to fulfill their dream of one day owning and operating their own funeral home, and as of March 2017, are delighted that it is Wilbourn Family Funeral Home.
Stephanie Blankenship
Licensed Funeral Director/Embalmer
My name is Stephanie (Wilbourn) Blankenship I am the oldest daughter of the owners, Scott and Angel. I came to Lindsay over ten years ago when my family moved here so my dad could pastor The First Church. During my time here in Lindsay I have assisted my family at the church and worked a few different local jobs that have allowed me to meet many Lindsay residents. While I was still in High School I attended Mid-America Technology Center where I learned my computer skills in different programs that now help me with the creation of videos, pictures, and folders that are seen at the funerals. After graduating High School I moved to Lufkin Texas where I attended Texas Bible College for two years. I made my way back to Lindsay and I gladly call it my home. In 2015 I met Caleb Blankenship a resident of Lindsay and in 2016 we got married. We now have three children, Quentin, Sebastian, and Eliana. After Quentin was born I realized that I no longer wanted to work a full time job that would keep me away from him many hours and days a week, so I joined my dad here at Wilbourn Family Funeral Home. Since he has always wanted a family business and decided that everyone loves babies, he allows me to bring the kiddos when I need to the Funeral Home to work. I am currently a licensed Funeral Director Embalmer as of December 2021. I enjoy being able to work with the families of Lindsay and Alex areas!
