Linda Lucille Barnes

Linda Lucille (Marcum) Barnes, was born on December 20, 1945, in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, to William Houston Marcum and Susie (Foutch) Marcum. She passed from this life on November 29, 2020, in Lindsay, Oklahoma, at the age of 74. Linda spent her beginnings in Stratford and her early school years in Maysville. Her later school years and adult life was spent in Lindsay. She was a member of the Erin Springs Baptist Church in Erin Springs. Occupationally she did many things from, daycare, to the sewing factory, helping at the Elks Lodge and the Lindsay Golf Course, and even as a real estate agent. Linda married the love of her life Gary Dean Barnes, on March 30, 1968. Together they had two daughters, Kimberly and Kristin. They were set to celebrate fifty-one years together before his passing on March 27, 2019. Linda was a lady of many talents and enjoyed spending her time being crafty. If it could be done she was the one to do it. She enjoyed painting ceramics, crocheting, making jewelry, quilting, and sewing. As a young girl her mother taught her to sew and as she grew she enjoyed making clothes for her family. She loved gardening and canning. The holidays were her favorite time of year and she could often be found in her kitchen, cooking, baking, and making candy. There was truly nothing she could not do. Her greatest love in life was her daughters and grandkids and she enjoyed all the time that she had with them. She was an example of a godly woman and a friend like no other she will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Kimberly Hutson and husband Glen of Norman, Kristin Lowe of Lindsay, a brother, Tom Marcum and wife Beverly of Durant, her grandchildren, Chad Hutson of Norman, Brooklyn (Hutson) Castilla and husband Ryan of El Paso, Texas, Bridgette Hutson of Norman, Haylee Lowe of Lindsay, and Ava Shawley of Lindsay, and her great grandchildren, Jade Morris and Riverlyn Smith of Lindsay. She is preceded in death by her husband, Gary Dean Barnes, her parents, William Houston and Susie (Foutch) Marcum, two brothers, George Marcum and Al Marcum, and her son-in-law, Mark Shawley. A funeral service is set to begin at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, December 2, 2020, at the First Baptist Church in Lindsay, with Gene Sanders officiating. She will be laid to rest next to Gary at the Erin Springs Cemetery in Erin Springs, Oklahoma, following the service. Services are under the direction of Scott and Angel Wilbourn of Boydston-Wilbourn Funeral Home in Lindsay, Oklahoma.
