Leo Elkins

Leo Elkins was born on October 31, 1917 in Lindsay, Oklahoma, to Eli and Ada (Dennis) Elkins. He married Georgia Carruth on May 11, 1940 in Lindsay, Oklahoma, and to this union were born two sons, William Eddy and Von Bruce. Leo served his country in the U. S. Army Air Force during World War II. Leo and Georgia made their home and raised their family in Lindsay, Oklahoma, until Georgia’s passing in 1999. They had been married for 59 years. Before his retirement, Leo worked in the oil field supply business and also was a rancher. He was a member of the United Methodist Church and was also a 32nd Degree Mason. Leo married Delois June Howard on June 1, 2000, in Lindsay, Oklahoma. They made their home in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Leo departed this life on Friday, September 11, 2015, at Bellevue Health and Rehabilitation in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, at the age of 97. His loss will be greatly felt by all of his loved ones. Leo is survived by his wife, June Elkins of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, one son Von Bruce Elkins and wife Alpha of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, and one brother Charles Ray Elkins and wife Marcia of Lawton, Oklahoma. Also remaining behind are his grandchildren, Zac Elkins of Norman, Oklahoma, Lauren Elkins of New York City, New York, and Whitney and Collin Hutten of Boulder, Colorado, as well as his great-grandchildren, Bailey Elkins of Norman, Oklahoma, and Avery Hutten of Boulder, Colorado and three step sons: Richard Howard and wife Lynne of Edmond, Oklahoma Robert Howard and wife Susan of Edmond, Oklahoma, and Donald Howard and wife Karen of Zepyrhill, Florida. Leo was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife Georgia Elkins, one son William Eddy “Bill” Elkins, two brothers S.E. Elkins and J.W. Elkins, and one sister Edna Jones. Funeral services for Mr. Elkins are set for ten o’clock a.m. on Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at the United Methodist Church, located at 114 W. Chickasaw in Lindsay, Oklahoma, with Rev. Ron King officiating. Interment will follow at Green Hill Cemetery with military honors by the American Legion Ball-Smith Post 23. Services are under the direction of B. G.
