Helen Diane Walters

Helen Diane Walters of Lindsay, Oklahoma passed from this life on December 5, 2008 in Lindsay at the age of 67. Helen was born on May 30, 1941 in Lawton, Oklahoma to Frank Allred and Bessie H. (Houser) Allred. She married Thomas Walters on February 14, 1989 in Garden City, Kansas. Mrs. Walters moved to Lindsay, Oklahoma in the early 1990?s. She was a member of the Church of Christ and taught Sunday School there. Helen was a homemaker and also cared for people in their homes. She also sold Mary Kay cosmetics. She did volunteer work, helping at the Senior Citizen?s Center and at the Lindsay School with the Helping Hands program. Helen, or "Granny" as she was lovingly called by her grandchildren and many others who knew her was a grandmother who loved spending time with her grandchildren. She loved to have fun with them. She also enjoyed playing cards, going to movies and listening to Reba McEntire. Helen is survived by her husband, Thomas Walters of Lindsay, Oklahoma, her mother, Bessie Allred of Rush Springs, Oklahoma, one daughter, Pamela Shepard and husband Chester of Lindsay, Oklahoma, three sons; Willis Keith of Rush Springs, Oklahoma, Kerry Keith of Lindsay, Oklahoma and Dana Goforth and wife Linda of Garden City, Kansas, one brother, Frank "Chub" Allred and wife Sandy of California, two sisters; Kelly Kincannan and husband Stacy of Rush Springs, Oklahoma and Kimberly Grey of California, her grandchildren; Barbara Wood and husband Kevin of Lindsay, Oklahoma, Jonathan Keith and wife Amanda of Scott City, Kansas, Amanda Deal and husband Tim of Lindsay, Oklahoma, Misty Steele and husband Bo of Blanchard, Oklahoma, and Amanda Stephens and husband Randy of Texas, Skyler Keith of Texas and McKayla Walters of Kansas. Helen also leaves behind eight great-grandchildren; Dylan Alexander, Brayden Lumpkins, Lillian Keith, Haliyah Wood, Preston Deal, Kaytlin Keith, Nicholas Stephens and Andrew Keith. She is also survived by her best friend, Shirley McKenzie, with whom she loved to spend time. Mrs. Walters was preceded in death by her father, the late Frank Allred of Chickasha, Oklahoma. A memorial service for Mrs. Walters will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 9, 2008 at the Church of Christ in Lindsay, Oklahoma with Minister Rick Popejoy officiating.
