Emma Webb Simmons

Emma "Ovell" Webb Simmons left this life on August 12th, 2010 at Southwest Medical Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and went to be with her Lord at the age of 88. Ovell was born in Foster, Oklahoma on July 25th, 1922. Her parents were Henry Eddie Webb and Myrtle Irene (Bell) Webb. Ovell married Charles Russell "Jack" Simmons in Lindsay, Oklahoma in December of 1947. Ovell was a member of the Lindsay Church of Christ and the Lindsay Historical Society. She was a retired Nurses Aid and had worked at the Lindsay Municipal Hospital and Burford Manor Nursing Home. Ovell also had worked at the Lindsay Senior Citizens Center and was a Docent of the Murray Lindsay Mansion. Ovell was an active person who loved gardening, singing, canning, sewing and traveling. She also loved to play games with her grandkids, especially baseball. Mrs. Simmons is survived by her daughters; Carla Calhoun of Lindsay, Oklahoma and Darla King of Edmond, Oklahoma, two brothers; Bob Webb and wife Alta of Tustin, California and Joe Webb and wife Virginia of Denton, Texas, one brother-in-law Richard Matlock and wife Rose of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and one sister-in-law Pat and John Laws of Texas. Ovell also leaves behind four grandchildren; Kari Lockwood and husband Ira of Newark, Delaware, Kaci King-Hoppman and husband Mikel of Minot, North Dakota, Brian Calhoun and wife Michelle of Abilene, Texas and John Calhoun and wife Tracy of Abilene, Texas along with two great-grandchildren; Zaden Lockwood and Jackson Calhoun. Ovell is also survived by one double-cousin, Floyd Bell and many other cousins, nieces and nephews. Mrs. Simmons was preceded in death by her husband Jack in October, 1997, her parents, brother Dale Webb and his wife Sara Lee, brother Kenneth Webb and wife Francella, brother Bill Webb, sister, Wanema Fay Matlock and son-in-law, Karl King. Funeral services for Mrs. Simmons are set for Saturday, August 14th, 2010 at two o?clock p.m. at the Church of Christ on Highway 19 in Lindsay, Oklahoma with Don Vinzant, Larry Winn and Ron Bever officiating. Interment will follow at Green Hill Cemetery in Lindsay. Services are under the direction of B.G. Boydston Funeral Home of Lindsay, Oklahoma.
