Delois "June" Elkins

Delois “June” (Boggs) Elkins was born to Claude Dick Boggs and Alma Alice (Harris) Boggs on December 15, 1931, in Zella Township, Oklahoma. She passed from this life on August 4, 2024, at the age of 92. June completed her bachelor’s degree at the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma in Chickasha. Then she pursued further education at the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond, graduating with a master’s degree. June utilized her expertise as an Art Teacher, employing her passion for creativity and education to inspire her students. June was an active member of the United Methodist Church, participating in various community events and programs. In addition to her church involvement, she was a dedicated member of a local Quilt and Art Club, where she shared her passion for quilting, painting, and writing. Her love for travel took her on numerous adventures across the States and Europe, where she soaked in diverse cultures and landscapes. After these enriching experiences, June made Lindsay, Oklahoma her permanent home. Left to cherish June’s memory are her son, Richard and wife Lynne Howard of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, her son, Donald and wife Karen Howard of Indian Shores, Florida, her daughter-in-law, Susan Howard of Edmond, OK. Other surviving family members include her grandchildren, Joe and wife Jenny Petruno of Denver, CO, Dr. Mark and wife Elizabeth Howard of Boston, MA, Jeff and wife Jill Howard of Wichita, KS, and Connor Howard of Indian Shores, FL, her great-grandchildren, Alexandria and Grant Petruno, Brianna and Brogan Howard, and Buzz, Rockwell, and Iker Howard, and numerous nieces and nephews. June is preceded in death by her parents, Claude (Dick) and Alma (Alice) Boggs, her husband, Otho Barton Howard of 47 years, her husband, Leo Elkins of 14 years, and her brother, Jimmy Boggs, and her sister, Claudine Boggs Langford and her son Robert Barton Howard. A funeral service to honor June is set to begin on Thursday, August 8, 2024, and 11 A.M. at United Methodist Church in Lindsay, Oklahoma.
