Charles E. Duncan, Sr. age 80, of Roswell, New Mexico, passed away in Roswell, NM on April 1, 2001. He was born in Lindsay, OK on August 1, 1920 to W. L. "Bill" Duncan and Lora Bama Holt Duncan. His parents were farmers. Charles attended school at Hughes High School and attended college two years. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Lindsay and Calvary Baptist Church in Roswell. He had a prison ministry and also ministered to the homeless in Oklahoma City. He was owner and operator of a dry cleaning business. He served five years in United States Army with the 45th Division during World War II. Charles enjoyed fishing, basketball and baseball. He moved to Roswell, NM in 1989. Charles is survived by his wife, Elsie Mae (Little) Duncan of the home. They were married in Oklahoma City on May 29, 1969. His children are two sons, Gary Leon Duncan and wife, Dana of Irving, TX; Charles E. Duncan, Jr. of Yantis, TX; and stepdaughter, Linda Darlene Nokes and husband Ray of Roswell, NM. There are nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He has one surviving sister, Clara Bell Davis and husband, Foch of Lindsay, OK; and sister-in-law, Mary Sue Duncan also of Lindsay. His brother, Ray preceded him in death. Arrangements have been made with B. G. Boydston Funeral Home in Lindsay. Funeral services are on Wed., April 4, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. in the First Baptist Church in Lindsay with Rev. Alvin McConnell, Jr., officiating. He will be buried in Green Hill Cemetery in Lindsay. Pallbearers are Gary Duncan, Charles E. Duncan, Jr., John Duncan, H.O. Estes, Kent Davis, and Bobby Simonton. Honorary pallbearers are Ray Nokes, Foch Davis, Grady Bunch, Ray Newby, Ray Webber and Clyde Woods. Military rites will be performed at the cemetery by the Lindsay American Legion Post # 23.
