Alvin M. Hoskins, age 83, passed away May 28, 2004 at Grady Memorial Hospital in Chickasha, Oklahoma. Alvin was born on June 20, 1920 in Quay, Oklahoma to Walter Maxie Hoskins and Annie Tabitha Smith Hoskins. Mr. Hoskins entered the United States Army on January 20, 1941. He was part of the 378th Air Service Group until 1945 when he was honorably discharged from active duty. Alvin married Florence Ellen Jenkinson on July 1, 1944 in Norwich, England. Together they raised two sons and three daughters. Mr. Hoskins retired from Mobil Oil Company in 1982, after 36 years of service in the Lindsay area. Alvin had served as a deacon of the First Baptist Church in Cement and Thomas, Oklahoma and was a member of Erin Springs Baptist Church for the past seventeen years. He was also a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and The American Legion. Alvin?s many interests included gardening, woodworking, sporting events, and attending garage sales. Mr. Hoskins is survived by his wife, Florence Ellen Hoskins of the home in Lindsay. Alvin also leaves behind, two sons and three daughters; Alvin John and Emmelita Hoskins of Yukon, Oklahoma, Florence Ann and Warren Hutchison of Thomas, Oklahoma, Patricia May and Stanley Dillmon of Wichita Falls, Texas, Loy Mac and Rhonda Hoskins of Bentonville, Arkansas, and Vicki Kay and Steven Wescott of Lindsay, Oklahoma. Also surviving are one sister, Dolly Ann Eddleman of Jackson, Mississippi, ten grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. Alvin was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, six sisters, and one grandson. Services for Mr. Hoskins will be held June 1, 2004, Tuesday 2:00 p.m. at the Erin Springs Baptist Church in Erin Springs, Oklahoma. Pallbearers will include; Troy Don Hutchison, Chad Alvin Hutchison, James Maxwell Hoskins, Jonathan Michael Hoskins, Scott Eugene Scobee, David Allen Tackett, Gary Duane McManus, and Sean Michael Buersmeyer. Words of comfort will be offered by Rev. Bill Love and Rev. Loy Hoskins. Military respects for Alvin?s years of service in the army will be honored by the Lindsay American Legion, Ball-Post 23, to include a 21 gun salute, taps and folding of the American flag. Alvin will be laid to rest at Green Hill Cemetery, Lindsay, Oklahoma. Public visitation will be Sunday from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday (Memorial Day) from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and Tuesday from 8:30 a.m. to noon. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of B.
