Winford Wright

Winford "Wimp" Wright of Chickasha, Oklahoma departed this life on April 4th, 2010 at Chickasha Nursing Center in Chickasha at the age of 73. Winford was born on July 12, 1936 in Pernell, Oklahoma to James P. Wright and Lillian Hazel (Popejoy) Wright. He married Leta Mae Ezell on December 10, 1954 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma. Leta passed away on July 15th, 1985 in Putnam, Oklahoma. Wimp grew up in the Bray and Lindsay areas before moving to Cement, Oklahoma in 1963. He was a member of the Cement Round-up Club from 1968 to 1976 and also was on a bowling league. Wimp was a truck driver for most of his life. He liked driving a truck, fishing and riding horses. He also enjoyed rodeos, reading Louis Lamour books and Western Horseman magazine. Wimp loved to listen to Jerry Clower and Hank Williams. Mr. Wright is survived by two daughters, Dana Simmons and husband Charles of Cement, Oklahoma and Tina Fisher of Cement, Oklahoma, four brothers; Clarence Wright of Maysville, Oklahoma, Bernard Wright of Chickasha, Oklahoma, James Wright of Lindsay, Oklahoma and Glenn Wright of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and two sisters, Virginia Wright of Chickasha, Oklahoma and Hazel Woods of Maysville, Oklahoma. Wimp will also be missed by his grandchildren; Joshua and Amy Wright of Cement, Jess and LaTisha Matlock of Cement, Cody Simmons of Cement, Sonya Chaney of Chickasha and David and Tera Glassey of Chickasha along with his great-grandchildren; Colton and Payge Wright, Henry and Desiree Beam, Matthew Eakins, Cara Hinton, Caster Starr and Brooklyn and Bailey Matlock. Mr. Wright was preceded in death by his wife, Leta Mae Wright, his father, James P. Wright, his mother, Lillian Hazel Wright and one son, Winford Eugene Wright. Funeral services for Mr. Wright are set for two o?clock p.m. on Thursday, April, 8th, 2010 at the Assembly of God Church in Cement, Oklahoma with Rev. Mike Bates officiating. Interment will follow at Green Hill Cemetery in Lindsay, Oklahoma. Services are under the direction of B.G. Boydston Funeral Home of Lindsay, Oklahoma.
