Tommy Gene Burrell

Tommy Gene Burrell, age 69, of Lindsay, Oklahoma passed from this life on Sunday, February 28, 2010 at Veteran?s Memorial Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Tommy was born in Shamrock, Texas on March 10th, 1940 to Tommy Rosevelt Burrell and Opal Bell (Craig) Burrell. He married Dorothy Schettler on November 3, 1962 in Sterling, Oklahoma. Tommy was raised in Kelton, Texas. He moved to Lindsay, Oklahoma where he resided until his death. Tommy served in the U.S. Army with one tour of duty in Vietnam. His awards include the Good Conduct Medal, Driver and Mechanic Badge, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and Vietnam Service Medal Expert (Rifle). His duty in the service were as Flight Operations Coordinator and Airplane Dispatcher. Tommy was a member of the American Legion. He worked as a welder for many years at National Oilwell Varco. Tommy enjoyed camping, fishing, watching hummingbirds, reading, working in the garden and watching sports Mr. Burrell is survived by his wife, Dorothy Burrell, his sons, Gene Burrell and wife Kim of Lindsay, Kevin Burrell and wife Glori of Ninnekah, his daughter, Kim Albright and husband Boone of Lindsay, one brother, Charlie Burrell and wife Myrtle of Stedman, North Carolina and one sister, Louise Bratcher of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Tommy also leaves behind eight grandchildren; Ashley Lamb, Danielle Gateley, Amanda Burrell, Savannah Albright, Travis Burrell, Caitlin Burrell, Shaina Harris, and Jacie Albright as well as four great-grandchildren; Wyatt Burrell, Cadence Lamb, Ian Lamb and Alexis Lamb along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and wonderful brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws, all of whom he loved dearly. Preceding Mr. Burrell in death were his parents, Tommy and Opal Burrell, his daughter, Fonda Burrell, and two brothers, Connie Lee Burrell and Jerry Wayne Burrell. Funeral services for Mr. Burrell are set for two o?clock p.m. on Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at Erin Springs Baptist Church with Bro. Bill Love officiating. Interment will follow at Green Hill Cemetery.
