Roman Sanchez

A much-loved husband, father, grandfather, son and brother, Roman Sanchez, 55, of Lawton, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully at OU Medical Hospital on April 4, 2024, after a very sudden decline in his health surrounded by his family and a host of friends. He was born August 26, 1968, in Gary, Indiana, to Roman Garcia Elizondo and Delia Sanchez. Roman was one of eight children: Jose Fabela, Cristina Bernal, Roman Baez, Armando Fabela, Samuel Fabela, Marciano Fabela and Juan Fabela. Roman graduated from Calument High School in Gary, Indiana, in 1986. In 1987, Roman married Audrey Brack, his high school sweetheart in Gary, Indiana. To this union was born three children: Ramon, Jessica and Rachel. Roman joined the United States Military on June 5, 1986, and ended his career with the military in Lawton, Oklahoma. He later retired from the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company after 24 years of service. Roman was an unwavering member of the Lawton Fort-Sill First United Pentecostal Church for approximately 32 years. He was a loyal member of the church board, a Sunday school teacher, taught numerous Bible studies and was faithful to outreach. He was also involved with the prison ministry of the church. Roman was a licensed minister with the United Pentecostal Church International. Roman is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Audrey of the home, his son, Ramon Sanchez of Lawton, OK, his daughters, Jessica Sanchez and Rachel Sanchez of Oklahoma City, OK, his grandchildren, Aliyia, Hunter and Ava, his mother, Delia Fabela, his father, Roman Garcia Elizondo, his brothers Jose Fabela, Roman Baez, Armando Fabela, Samuel Fabela, Marciano Fabela, Juan Fabela, his sister, Cristina Bernal, and his mother-in-law, Barbara Brack. Roman is also survived by countless cousins, and all his loving nieces and nephews. Roman was preceded in death by his grandfather, Louis Sanchez, his grandmother, Georgia Sanchez, his Uncle, David Sanchez, and his cousin, Eric Sanchez. Roman’s departure comes as a great shock and a deep wound, and it is gravely felt by his entire family and countless others who loved him deeply. The family deeply appreciates your support during this difficult time. “He fought a good fight, he kept the faith, he won the race!” Funeral services will be held Monday, April 8th, at 11:00 AM at Paseo Apostolic Church 611 NW 23rd Street, Oklahoma City, OK 73103.
