Lola Mae Lindsay

Lola Mae (Smith) Lindsay departed this life on December 6th, 2009 at her home in Lindsay, Oklahoma at the age of 88. Lola was born on January 11th, 1921 in Lindsay, Oklahoma to James Daniel (Jim) Smith and Ollie Ester (Duncan) Smith. She married C.O. "Frog" Lindsay on January 22nd, 1938 in Purcell, Oklahoma. Lola attended grade school at Colbert, Northwest of Lindsay, and she attended high school at Dibble. In the early 1940?s, she worked at Douglas Aircraft in Oklahoma City and was known as one of the "Rosie the Riveters". Later, Lola worked with her husband in the laundry business for many years. She also worked at the sewing factory for eight years, retiring in 1982. Mrs. Lindsay was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Lindsay. She loved her church and her church family. Lola loved to read her Bible, and she worked in her flower garden as long as she was able. Crocheting and sewing were her favorite hobbies. She dearly loved being with her family. Mrs. Lindsay is survived by two brothers, Cecil Smith and wife Freida, and Jerry Smith and wife Darleen, one sister, Inetha Dacus and husband Elmer and many nieces and nephews. Preceding Mrs. Lindsay in death were her husband C.O. (Frog) Lindsay who passed away on November 27th, 1994 and her parents, Jim and Ollie Smith. Funeral services for Mrs. Lindsay are set for two o?clock p.m. on Tuesday, December 8th, 2009 at the Calvary Baptist Church in Lindsay, Oklahoma with Pastor Mark Smith officiating and Rev. David Guerrero assisting. Serving as pallbearers will be nephews; Steve Smith, Brian Dacus, Robert Smith, Rodney Smith, Roger Smith, Jason Smith, Kevin Smith and Kyle Smith. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be nephews and nieces; Mary Ann Dacus, Skeeter Smith, Dana Smith, Connie (C.J.) Smith, Randy Smith, Debbie Clark, Dennis Clark, Marilyn Traylor, Bruce Traylor, Elaine Jones, Jennifer Smith, Mickey Smith, Teresa Richards, Mark Smith and Connie J. Smith. Interment will follow at Green Hill Cemetery in Lindsay. Services are under the direction of B.G. Boydston Funeral Home of Lindsay, Oklahoma.
