Karol Wayne Finley

Karol Wayne Finley, a resident of Lindsay for over 60 years, was born on July 20, 1950, to Kenneth Waymon Finley and Norma Bea (Wadley) Finley, in Guymon, Oklahoma. He passed from this life at the age of 74, on October 17, 2024, at his home in Lindsay, Oklahoma surrounded by the love of his family and friends. Karol grew up in Lindsay and graduated from Lindsay High School in 1968. Shortly thereafter, he married his high school sweetheart, Mary (Tannehill) Finley, on November 28, 1968, in Lindsay. Karol and Mary spent many wonderful years together, resulting in their 4 beautiful children, Kenneth, Greg, Jynet, and Leah. They remained devoted to each other until Mary’s passing on January 21, 1994. After some convincing from his youngest daughter, Leah, he reached out to Sherri, and on March 5, 1996, they were married at Calvary Baptist Church in Lindsay, Oklahoma. With this union, their family grew to include Rachelle and Ryan. This year Karol and Sherri celebrated 28 years of marriage. Karol worked on the farm all his life, tending to his cattle and crops. His farm was always the highlight of his life. He was so good with his cattle that he was known as the “Cow Whisperer.” Another highlight of Karol’s life were his grandkids, and he took them on tractor rides on many occasions. He was a proud PaPa and seldom missed any of their activities. Karol was a committed and hard worker who loved his community and served on the Board of Soil Conservation in Garvin County for 10 years and on the Lindsay School Board for several terms. Karol was a man of many interests and hobbies. He loved to travel with his wife Sherri, specifically to Branson, Missouri, and most recently on bus tours with friends. He loved to watch “Gun Smoke” and “Andy Griffith,” and go fishing. He always looked forward to the annual weenie roast with his loved ones. Karol was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church in Lindsay, Oklahoma. He loved the church and serving in his men’s Sunday School class. Karol was a natural encourager and would always check on folks he hadn’t seen at church to make sure they were okay. He also enjoyed his coffee dates with friends, especially Dan Evans, James Roland, Russell Atkins, and Jerry Don Tucker. He was sweet, humble, dedicated, consistent, strong yet gentle, and full of wisdom. Karol’s life was well lived, and he leaves behind a wonderful legacy that will continue to impact many generations. Karol was the backbone of his family, and there is no doubt that he will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved him. Karol is survived by his beloved wife, Sherri (Fowler) Finley of Lindsay, his children, Kenneth Finley of Lindsay, Greg Finley and wife Jodie of Lindsay, Jynet Finley of Lindsay, Rachelle Metcalf of Goldsby, Ryan Riddle and wife Glenna of Norman, his son-in-law Colby Albright of Lindsay, his brother, Dean Finley of Kingfisher, his sister-in-law, Judy Ward Turner of Kansas City, Missouri, his grandchildren, Sable Finley-Tripp, Keeven Finley, Kotus Finley, Dakotah Finley, TJ Parker and wife Cayla, Kinzie Finley, Zeke Parker and wife Hannah, Kyra Taveechai, Moxie Albright, Maddox Albright, Sara Metcalf, Addison Metcalf, Kyra Metcalf, Selah Metcalf, Katrina Metcalf, Selena Metcalf, and Rainee Stumblingbear-Riddle, his great-grandchildren, Abraham Finley, Liam Parker, and Leah Parker, and many nieces, nephews, and other beloved relatives and friends. Karol was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Norma Finley, his first wife, Mary Finley, his daughter, Leah Albright, and his brother, Kim Finley. A time of visitation will be held Monday, October 21, 2024, from 10:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. and Tuesday, October 22, 2024, from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. at the First Baptist Church in Lindsay, Oklahoma. A funeral service to honor Karol’s life will be held Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at 2:00 P.M. at the First Baptist Church in Lindsay, Oklahoma. He will be laid to rest following the service at Greenhill Cemetery in Lindsay, Oklahoma. Services are under the direction of Scott and Angel Wilbourn of Wilbourn Family Funeral Home in Alex, Oklahoma.
