Joseph Caleb Lindsey

Joseph Caleb "Joe" Lindsey was born in Empire, Oklahoma on January 31, 1922 to John and Mellie Lindsey. Joe served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army Air Corps serving as a B-24 Bomber Pilot. He served for five years. He returned home and married Allene Campbell On January 18, 1948 at the First Baptist Church in Lindsay, Oklahoma with the ceremony performed by Rev. Glenwood Busby. Joe lived in and around Lindsay, Oklahoma for most of his life. He worked in the oilfield in all capacities for at least forty years. He was a member for over 65 years of the American Legion Ball-Smith Post 23 (serving in all capacities), a member of the VFW and a 32nd degree Mason. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lindsay where he was baptized, married and his funeral service is being held. Joe loved playing dominoes and cards, assembling jigsaw puzzles, reading and visiting with family and friends. Joe passed from this life on Wednesday evening, April 8, 2015 at Integris Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the age of 93. His gentle manner, kind heart and contagious smile will be missed in the Lindsay community and by all of his family and friends. Joe is survived by his wife, Allene Lindsey of Lindsay, Oklahoma, his daughter, Pat Hawkins and husband Larry of Ardmore, Oklahoma, his son, Dennis Lindsey and wife Debbie of Katy, Texas and his grandchildren: Paul Henderson and wife Belinda, Kristin Pendarvis and husband Dale, Seanan Anderson and husband Robert, Brhyona Meyer and husband Tom, Padraic Lindsey, Macaela Sandusky, Chrissi Lindsey, Andrea Tinsley and Jill Hawkins. Also left behind are his great-grandchildren: Sammie Jo, Christian, Autumn, Michael Jr., Paizley, Matthew, Ryleigh, Carlie, Rebel, Gracie, Kaicee, Lane, Adam, Ty, Georgia and Gillian and two great-great grandchildren, Adrian and Chevy. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mellie Lindsey, his son, Jackie Dale Lindsey, his brothers: Davis, Bud, Jack , Elton, Eugene and J.D. and his sisters: Eva Palmer, Maudie, Anna Lee, Bonnie Belle and Ruth Lindsey. Funeral services for Mr. Lindsey are set for two o?clock p.m. on Monday, April 13, 2015 at the First Baptist Church, located at 401 S.W. 3rd Street in Lindsay, Oklahoma with Pastor Randy Allen officiating. Interment will follow at Green Hill Cemetery in Lindsay, Oklahoma with military honors by the American Legion Ball-Smith Post 23. Services are under the direction of B. G.
