John Murray Geddes

John Murray Geddes of Lindsay, Oklahoma was born on February 24, 1927 in Woodward, Oklahoma to John Milton Geddes and Laura Margaret (Nash) Geddes.He passed from this life on Thursday, January 16, 2014 at Glenhaven Retirement Village in Chickasha Oklahoma at the age of 86. John served his country in the U.S. Marines in China from 1945 to 1946. He married Patsy "Pat" Ruth White in Woodward, Oklahoma on May 21, 1947, six weeks after the tornado that devastated Woodward. They settled in Lindsay in 1952. They lived in Lindsay until 1976, when they moved to McAlester. They returned to Lindsay to stay in 1983. John worked for Western Company for 23 years. He also worked for Washita Flow Testers and other oil-related companies. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Lindsay. He was a 32nd degree Mason and was a member of the Masonic Lodge for 60 years. He was also a past Exalted Ruler of the Elks Lodge and was a Shriner. John enjoyed farming and gardening. He loved hunting, collecting and polishing rocks, and he also liked working crossword or any other word puzzles as well as reading. Mr. Geddes is survived by one son, Ryan Lynn Geddes and wife Yvonne, one daughter, Anita Jo (Geddes) Horton and husband Paul, one daughter-in-law, Julie Geddes, and his grandchildren: Daniel, Rylee and Charlotte Geddes, Julie Geddes of Seiling, OK, John Robert and Kristen Geddes, Alyssa Geddes, and Maggie Ruth and Kyle Horton. John also leaves behind his great-grandchildren: John Collin, Nathan, Brittan and Reagan Geddes, Aubrey Shay Geddes and Jonathan Geddes, and Trayvon and Colton Geddes as well as his special "daughters" Janet Simmons Scheer and Jo Simmons Nortier and special family friends, Georgia Simmons and LaRue Robertson. John was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Patsy Geddes on August 9, 2011, his parents, three sisters, one brother, one son, John Alan Geddes, one grandson, Chisum Geddes and one great-granddaughter, Emily Danielle Geddes. A memorial service for Mr. Geddes is set for eleven o?clock a.m. on Monday, January 20, 2014 at the United Methodist Church, located at 114 W. Chickasaw in Lindsay, Oklahoma with Rev. Ron King officiating and Masonic Rites by the Lindsay Masonic Lodge #248. The service is under the direction of B. G. Boydston Funeral Home of Lindsay, Oklahoma.
