James David Kilgore

James David Kilgore was born on August 28, 1954, in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, to George Riley “RG” Kilgore and Maybelle (Timmons) Kilgore. He passed from this life on March 2, 2025, at the age of 70. David’s family moved to Oklahoma City when he was a boy. After retirement, he spent the last 5 years of his life living in Newcastle, Oklahoma. David met the love of his life, Sherry Ann Anthony, in a McDonald’s parking lot in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, later telling friends, “I am going to marry that girl!” On October 18, 1974, David did just that, and he and Sherry spent 50 years together. They had just celebrated their 50th anniversary. From their union, David and Sherry celebrated the birth of their two children, Jeremy and Shiloh, as well as ten grandchildren. David’s life revolved around loving his family and Jesus, and nothing brought him greater joy than being Papa to his ten grands and riding his motorcycles. He had a special place in his heart for his sister Donna, who he loved very much and shared very special memories with. David was a well-respected crane operator. He was a member of the Operating Engineers Union and worked for Allied Steel in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, for over 40 years prior to retirement. Some of his more memorable projects include placing “The Guardian” Native American statue atop the Oklahoma State Capitol building and installing the “End of the Trail” sculpture and the "Canyon Princess" large cougar sculpture at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum. David also operated a crane for search and rescue crews after the bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah federal building in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. David was a member of Calvary Christian Center in Del City, Oklahoma. One of his greatest joys in life was being at church and worshipping God with his family. David was strong in his faith and led by example. He left a wonderful legacy for his wife, kids, grandkids, and all who knew him of loving and trusting in Jesus. He brought a quiet strength and peace to everyone he knew. He could always be heard telling them “Everything’s going be alright". He would play worship songs on his iPad and sing along with his grandkids. David loved to ride his motorcycles and dune buggies for fun. He also enjoyed building “hot rods” and inventing things. David is survived by his loving wife, Sherry Kilgore, of the home, his son, Jeremy Kilgore and wife Stephanie of Newcastle, Oklahoma, his daughter, Shiloh and husband Todd of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, his sister, Donna Kilgore, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, his ten grandchildren, Taylor Fabian, Kimmbree Kilgore, Kaylee Sherrill, Jacob Sherrill, Karcee Kilgore, Kyson Kilgore, Kenzleigh Kilgore, Logan Sherrill, Kailin Kilgore, and Kadin Kilgore, his church family, and many other relatives and friends. David is preceded in death by his parents, George Riley “RG” Kilgore and Maybelle (Timmons) Kilgore, and his stillborn daughter, Sasha Kilgore.
