Geneva Christine Brooksher

Geneva Christine (Palmer) Brooksher, 96, went to be with the Lord on January 20, 2025. She passed away peacefully in her sleep at her residence at Featherstone in Moore, Oklahoma. Geneva was born on October 26, 1928, in Alex, Oklahoma, to Clayburn and Alta Mae (Dozier) Palmer. She was a dedicated daughter who quit school to help her family work in the fields. Geneva got great joy from getting her GED many years later in 1974. Geneva married Roy Brooksher on March 10, 1946. She spent most of her life as a homemaker, although she took on many extra jobs. Those jobs included sewing and ironing for people, working in the Alex post office, running after parts for Roy’s garage, being a bookkeeper at the Little League games, working the concession stand, and the most important job of all; keeping her grandkids. Geneva and Roy also opened up their home to kids in need by sponsoring and fostering them. In her spare time, she loved working in the garden. She was very particular about her house and her flowerbeds. Geneva is survived by her daughter: Gail Tobey and husband Frank, and daughter-in-law: Julie Brooksher, her grandkids: James and Terri Tobey, April and Travis Lagaly, Amber and Neal Johnson, Angela Tobey, Christy and Matt Inouye, and Steven and Jesse Brooksher, her great-grandkids: Maddison and Scotty Brasher, Macey and Dakota Harper, Samantha Lagaly, Grant Lagaly, Andy Newton, Noah Newton, Jenna Tobey, Natalie and Bryce Strang, Nicole Johnson, Makenna Johnson, Maddux Inouye, Brooklyn Inouye, Reagan Inouye, and JD Brooksher, her great-great-grandkids: Harrison Brasher, Shepard Brasher, CJ Newton and Casey Strang. Geneva loved her family very much. She was known to spoil the kids, and nothing brought her greater joy than loving on them and being their Nanny. Geneva was preceded in death by her parents: Clayburn and Alta Palmer, her husband: Roy Brooksher, her son: Roy Brooksher Jr., her sister: Marie Kirby and her husband Kenneth, her brother: William Palmer and his wife Edna Earle, and her brother: Jesse Palmer. A funeral service is set to begin at 11:00 A.M., on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at the Wilbourn Family Funeral Home Chapel in Lindsay, Oklahoma. She will be laid to rest at the Alex Cemetery in Alex, Oklahoma. Services are under the direction of Scott and Angel Wilbourn of Wilbourn Family Funeral Home.
