Freida Marie Smith

Freida Marie Smith was born on August 13, 1931, in Marlow, Oklahoma, to Carl D. Johnson and Vesta Violet (Miller) Johnson. She passed from this life on July 7, 2026, at the age of 94. Freida graduated from Lindsay High School in 1950 and married the love of her life Cecil Smith in September of that same year. Together they enjoyed over 60 beautiful years of marriage until his passing in December of 2011. Freida was a hard-working woman whose hands were rarely still. Whether in the field cutting broomcorn or in the house tending to her family, she counted it all as blessings. She dedicated much of her life to caring for others. While she was a homemaker for many of her years, she also served as a dietician at the Lindsay Manor Nursing Home. Her commitment to the nursing home extended far beyond her employment, she was a dedicated volunteer there for 48 years, offering her time and compassion to every resident. Freida was a great woman of faith and proud member of the Missionary Baptist Church, she loved to use her time and talents to bless others. Freida was an amazing cook and was known for her sweet ministry of baking her famous cookies and delivering them throughout the community. Freida found joy in the simple and timeless things in life. She was an avid gardener and had a keen eye for antiques, enjoying the thrill of both buying and selling unique finds. Freida was a woman who believed that family was life’s greatest blessing. She cherished every moment spent with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She will be remembered for her servant’s heart, unwavering faith and constant love. She will forever be missed by all who knew her. Left to cherish Freida’s memory are her children, Rodney and Skeeter Smith of Lindsay, Oklahoma, and Robert and Haley Smith of Lindsay, Oklahoma, her grandchildren, Gary Smith, Dustin & Whitney Smith, Zachary and Katrina Smith, Trapper and Krystle Smith, Jamie Bingham, Caleb Smith and Cristi, and Cody Smith, her 18 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren, along with many other family and friends. Freida was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Violet Johnson, her husband, Cecil Smith, her sons, Randy and Roger Smith, her granddaughter Kelli Patton, and her siblings, Carl Johnson Jr. and Lawana McKnight.
