Fred M. Davis, Sr.

Fred Marion Davis Sr. was born April 27, 1927 in Unionville, Missouri to Gladys Davidson and Fred Davis. He married Mary D. "Judy" Knox on February 16, 1951 in Tulsa, OK. This union was blessed by 57 years together and five children Fred Davis Jr., Mike Davis Sr., Jeff Davis and wife Lisa, Shari Rushing and husband Mike, and Jody Holden and husband Mark. Mr. Davis departed this life on December 28, 2008 in Lindsay, Oklahoma at the age of 81. He was preceded in death by his son Fred Jr., his parents, two brothers; Henry Davis and Lester Davis, sisters; Lois Bunnell, Mildred Amego, and Carolee Carey. He is survived by his wife Judy of the home and brother Hubert Davis of Washington. Fred served his country in the U.S. Navy on the USS Pine Island in the South Pacific during WWII. Fred was a member of the VFW serving as commander and the American Legion. He served on the Lindsay City Council and also served as mayor. Fred was owner of Fred?s Rat Hole Service for 39 years and Fredco Plumbing for one year. The joy?s of Pepa?s life were his eleven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Grandchildren are Mindy Presgrove and husband Stacy of Edmond, Crystal Ford and husband John of Macomb, Tommy Davis and wife Kira, Deidre Marcum and husband Dewayne, Joe Holden, Malea Ince and husband Kevin, Michael Davis Jr., Jason Davis, and Amanda Rushing all of Lindsay, Marcia Holden of Oklahoma City, and Benjamin Davis of Maysville. Great-grandchildren are Taylor Presgrove, Tasha Ford, Clayton Davis, Hope Holden, Jaxson Presgrove, Steven Holden, and Colton Ince. Pallbearers are the grandsons; Tommy Davis, Joe Holden, Michael Davis Jr., Jason Davis, Benjamin Davis, and great-grandson Clayton Davis. Honorary pallbearers are; Mark Holden, Mike Rushing, Stacy Presgrove, John Ford, Dewayne Marcum, and Kevin Ince. Funeral Services for Mr. Davis are set for Wednesday, December 31, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at the Church of Christ in Lindsay, Oklahoma with Minister Rick Popejoy officiating.
