Francis Leona Rutledge

Francis Leona "Chock" (Keith) Rutledge was born on November 29, 1919 in Coalgate, Oklahoma to Lewis G. Keith and Frona Belle (Rife) Keith. She married Raymond Rutledge in Chickasha, Oklahoma in 1936. They moved to Lindsay, Oklahoma in 1947 where they raised six sons and one daughter. Raymond passed away in 1970. Leona was a long-time member of the Lindsay Free Will Baptist Church, and more recently, the Erin Springs Baptist Church, and she was also a member of the Purdy Home Extension Club. She was a homemaker and mother of seven children and also worked as a cashier in local grocery stores. Chock loved her family and her church. She spent a lot of time sitting on her porch, just watchin? and wavin?. She never missed "Wheel of Fortune", "Judge Judy" or an OU or Thunder basketball game. Chock never met a stranger. She departed this life on Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at Norman Regional Healthplex in Norman, Oklahoma at the age of 94. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her. Chock is survived by three sons: Russ Rutledge and wife JaNelle of Norman, Oklahoma, Jake Rutledge and wife Linda of Lindsay, Oklahoma, Danny Rutledge and wife Sheila of Blanchard, Oklahoma, one daughter, Gayla Scheer and husband Gary of Arlington, Texas, one brother, John Keith of McAlester, Oklahoma and one sister, Carole York of Choctaw, Oklahoma. She also leaves behind her grandchildren: Barb, Kay, Sherry, Bub, Chase, Cody, Doug, Randy, Denita, Shelly, Michelle, Crystal, Jake, Brandon, Mason and Josh as well as thirty-seven great-grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren. Chock was preceded in death by her husband Raymond Rutledge, her parents, three sons: Doug Rutledge, Jim Rutledge and Gilford Rutledge and one grandson, Jimmy Rutledge. Funeral services for Ms. Rutledge are set for two o?clock p.m. on Monday, July 28, 2014 at the Erin Springs Baptist Church, located on Highway 76 South of Lindsay, Oklahoma with Pastor Clay Hicks officiating and Rev. John Griffith assisting. Interment will follow at Green Hill Cemetery in Lindsay, Oklahoma. Services are under the direction of B. G. Boydston Funeral Home of Lindsay, Oklahoma.
