Doris Kay Miller

Doris Kay (Webb) Miller was born in Purcell, Oklahoma, on July 25, 1953, to James Luther Webb Jr. and Jimmie Pauline (Cunningham) Webb. She passed from this life in Norman, Oklahoma, on August 31, 2021, at the age of 68. Doris was raised in the Payne community. After her childhood, Doris put down roots in Lindsay, Oklahoma. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Lindsay, Oklahoma. She was also a part of the Garvin County Farm Bureau Women’s Committee for over twenty-five years. Doris met the love of her life, Stanley Ralph Miller, while in high school. While they were dating, Doris had Stanley’s class ring. One day they got to arguing and Doris threw the class ring and it hit a can and broke the stone. About a week later she asked for it back. The two were wed in Purcell, Oklahoma, on May 17, 1973. They spent forty-eight loving years together. Doris was a lifetime homemaker and farmer’s wife. She loved the 5 years they planted and provided sweet corn for many families. She also worked as a nurse at the Lindsay Nursing Home and a teacher at the Head Start. Doris worked for Williamson Department Store until the store closed its doors. From there she retired to the farm. Doris was a true homemaker and loved keeping her house beautiful and fresh inside and out. Gardening and caring for flower beds were her favorite pastimes. She was known to be an amazing cook and had a true gift for keeping those she loved fed. She always made sure her boys had a hot dinner to come home to, no matter how late in the evening it was. Doris devoted her life to her family and the farm and sacrificed for both whole heartedly. She was a true example of what a wife, mother, and grandmother should aspire to be. Her legacy will live on and her memory will forever be cherished. Doris is preceded in death by her parents, James and Jimmie Webb, and a sister Linda Faye Johnson. Left to cherish Doris’s memory is her husband, Stanley Ralph Miller, her sons, Stanley Brandon Miller and wife Amy of Lindsay, Oklahoma, and Joshua Grant Miller and wife Letisha of Lindsay, Oklahoma, a brother, James Ray Webb and wife Gigi of Muskogee, Oklahoma, her grandchildren, Miranda Miller, Alanna Miller, Courtney Anderson, Bradley Miller, and Andrew Miller, and nieces and nephews. A funeral service to honor the life of Doris is set to begin at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, September 7, 2021, at the United Methodist Church located in Lindsay, Oklahoma. She will be laid to rest following the service at the Green Hill Cemetery in Lindsay, Oklahoma.
