Donald William Lacy

Donald William Lacy of Tulsa, Oklahoma departed this life on May 7, 2012 at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 79. Don was born on February 15, 1933 in Lindsay, Oklahoma to Isaac Lacy and May (Hook) Lacy. He married Rebecca Jane McElroy on November 7, 1954 in Anniston, Alabama. Don graduated from Lindsay High School in Lindsay, Oklahoma. He made his career in the military serving as a member of the U.S. Army. During his career he served in Korea, was decorated for his service in Vietnam from February of 1966 to February of 1967 and earned many awards and medals throughout his career. He retired as LTC in 1972. After retiring, Don lived in Arkansas for five years. He returned to Lindsay for many years; then, he moved to the Tulsa area. He was a lifetime member of the NRA, and he loved hunting and skeet and trap shooting. He was an avid reloader. Don also loved farming and gardening, and he excelled at cabinet making. Mr. Lacy is survived by his wife of fifty-seven years, Jane Lacy, three sons: Donald Lacy, Jr., Robert Charles Lacy and Alan Wayne Lacy, his daughter, Cynthia Jane Dew, one brother, Harley Lacy of DeLeon, Texas, and two sisters: Lorita Arai and Vivian Lacy, both of Los Angeles, California. Don also leaves behind his grandchildren: Amber Lacy of Norman, OK, Charles Isaac Lacy of Oklahoma City, OK, Melodi Lacy of Manchester, CT, Sarah Ball of Lakenheath AFB, UK, Becky Lacy of Oklahoma City, OK, Rachael Lacy of Norman, OK, Aaron Lacy of Norman, OK, Jonathon Lacy of Oklahoma City, OK, Jessica Lacy of Oklahoma City, OK and Audrey Dew of Tulsa, OK, and his great-grandchildren: Jaxon Lacy, Dahlia Lacy, Trevon Bond and Cody Lacy, all of Norman, OK and Autumn and Austin Emery of Texas. Mr. Lacy was preceded in death by his parents, Isaac and May Lacy. Funeral services for Mr. Lacy are set for two o?clock p.m. on Friday, May 11, 2012 at Green Hill Cemetery in Lindsay, Oklahoma with Rev. Ron King officiating with military honors by the American Legion Ball Smith Post 23. Services are under the direction of B.G. Boydston Funeral Home of Lindsay, Oklahoma.
