Bernice Helen Springman

Bernice Helen “Henry” Springman was born October 20, 1927 to Sol and Annie Henry in Lindsay, Oklahoma. She passed from this earth September 13, 2017 at her home in Lindsay, Oklahoma at the age of 89.Bernice was the youngest of 12 children. She married Billy Buster Mitchell in September, 1942. Together they had a daughter, Billie Joe “Mitchell” Hall, and a son William “Bill” Paris Mitchell. In 1950, Bernice married Robert E. McVay and together they had two sons, Robert Lee McVay and Harry Lynn McVay.Bernice married Gene Springman May 16, 2006.Bernice enjoyed being a hair dresser and spending time with her family and going dancing on the weekends. She spent most of her life in Lindsay, Oklahoma. Bernice is survived by her husband Gene Springman of Lindsay; two sons, William Mitchell and wife Linda “Taylor” Mitchell of Lindsay, Oklahoma and Robert McVay and wife Kaye “Holder” McVay of Blanchard, Oklahoma; one step-son, Gene Allen Springman and wife Susie of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; eight grand children, Ricky Hall of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Bernelda “Hall” Haaland and husband Robby of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Shane Mitchell and wife Kimberly Mitchell of Lindsay, Oklahoma, Cyndi Mitchell of Lindsay, Oklahoma, Kristi King of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, KayeLynn McVay of Lindsay, Oklahoma, Rachelle Adams of Maysville, Oklahoma and Tara McVay of Lindsay, Oklahoma; thirteen great-grandchildren, Caitlin Hall, Meghan Mitchell, Siarrah Mitchell, Taylor Mitchell, Tylar Mitchell, Arianna Mitchell, Terri Lynn Cole, Tori Lane Cole, Dalen Mitchell, Kaylee King, Conner King, Trenten Ardrey, and Lincoln Pigg; seven great-great-grandchildren, Codan Cordell, Cole Cordell, Case Cordell, Shealynn Knowles, Haizlee Mitchell, Tommy Cooper, Charleigh Cooper and soon to arrive Collin Knowles; and many nieces and nephews.Bernice was preceded in death by her parents Sol and Annie Henry; son, Harry Lynn McVay; daughter, Billie Jo Hall; eleven brothers and sisters; and previous husbands, Billy Mitchell and Robert McVay. Visitation hours for Mrs. Springman will be at the Boydston Funeral Home located at 308 SW 3rd in Lindsay from 4:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. Thursday, September 14 9:00 A.M. - 8:00 P.M. Friday, September 15 9:00 A.M. - 12:00 P.M. Saturday, September 16 Funeral Services for Mrs. Springman are set for Saturday September 16, 2017 starting at 2:00 P.M. at the Erin Springs Baptist Church with Eddie Ince officiating. Bernice will be laid to rest at the Green Hill Cemetery following the service. Services are under the direction of Scott Wilbourn with Boydston Funeral Home in Lindsay Oklahoma.
