Barbara Tanner

Barbara Ann (Ruyle) Tanner was born on June 3, 1942, in Loma Linda, California to Harry Leonard Ruyle and Betty Nell (Cleek) Ruyle. She entered into her eternal rest surrounded by her loved ones on April 13, 2023, at her home in Yukon, Oklahoma, at the age of 80. Barbara met the love of her life, Darrel Tanner, and the two were wed in holy matrimony on March 1, 1959, in Las Vegas, Nevada. They just celebrated 64 years. Born to this union were two children, Rachelle and Scott. Barbara was a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother. She was a proud United States Air Force wife for 18 years. Barbara and her family moved to Lindsay in 1977. She was a stocker at the local grocery store, Goodner’s, for many years. Barbara loved the outdoors, but most of all having fun with her family. She enjoyed gardening, shopping, horseback riding, and cooking. She was a supporter of OU sports and was a sponsor of the Saddle Club at Travis Air Force Base in California. She was an animal lover and had many pet dogs over her life that she adored. She and Darrel spent many years raising cattle. She even coached Rachelle’s softball team one year. Barbara’s greatest love was for her family. She counted each of them as a piece of her heart. She could be seen at many activities cheering on her kids and grandkids, from band, plays and musicals to softball, baseball, soccer, football and basketball. She enjoyed every minute she was able to spend with all of them. Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Darrel Tanner of Yukon, Oklahoma; her children, Rachelle (Tanner) McCoy and husband Gary of Mustang, Oklahoma, and Scott Tanner of Cache, Oklahoma; her grandchildren, Erin McCoy and husband Jacob Cousins of Louisville, Kentucky, Mallory McCoy of Mustang, Oklahoma, Kailee Tanner of Cache, Oklahoma, and Kale Tanner of Cache, Oklahoma. Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Betty Ruyle; and two brothers, Roger Ruyle and LeRoy Ruyle. A Funeral Service to honor the life of Barbara is set to begin at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, April 20, 2023, at the Wilbourn Family Funeral Home Chapel in Lindsay, Oklahoma. She will be laid to rest at the Fort Sill National Cemetery in Elgin, Oklahoma. at 1:00 P.M.
