Viola Marie Durant Nye Leese

Viola Marie Durant Nye Leese, age 82, of Lindsay, Oklahoma, died in Lindsay on August 19, 2000. She was born in Harper, Kansas on July 22, 1918. She married William (Bill) McCellan Nye in Harper, Kansas on April 20, 1938. Bill and Marie made their home in Sulphur, OK and Harper, KS before moving to Bradley, OK in 1943. She was preceded in death by Bill Nye on November 22, 1963. On February 3, 1980 she married Alfred Leese, making their home in Lindsay, OK. She was preceded in death by Alfred Leese on January 11, 1991. Marie was also preceded in death by son-in-law, Leon Scoggins on June 15, 1987. Marie was a retired health care giver which was one of her highlights. Marie also enjoyed sharing her talent of cooking with her friends and neighbors, often taking homemade cinnamon rolls to shut-ins. She will be remember as a hard working mother that loved, provided and cared for her family. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church. She is survived by her four children, daughter Peggie Raney and husband Floyd of Maysville, OK: daughter, Georgia Baxter and husband Billy Joe of Lindsay, OK; son Dale Nye and wife Leschen of Lindsay, OK; and daughter, Theresa Brashears and husband Kendall of Fairview, OK. Eleven grandchildren, Jolena Holcomb and husband Robert of Kingston, OK; Christie Puckett and husband Joe of Maysville, OK; Terry Raney and wife Valerie of Oklahoma City, OK: Len Scoggins of Fairfax, VA; Tiffany Macklin and husband Sean of Byers, TX; Kari Lollis and husband Derek of Blanchard, OK: Julie Dunn and husband Nathan of Pauls Valley, OK: Jeremy Brashears and wife Laura of Stillwater, OK; Shane, Kendra and Katresa Brashears of Fairview, OK. Three step-grandchildren, Cynthia Anderson of Del City, OK: Doug Baxter and wife Lori of Oklahoma City, OK; and Bryan Baxter and wife Marrissa of Warr Acres, OK. Six Great-grandchildren, Thomas Holcomb of Kingston, OK; Christopher and Jocelyn Puckett of Maysville, OK; Ryanne and Peyton Macklin of Byers, TX; and Allison Lollis of Blanchard, OK. Four Step great-grandchildren, Emily and Kenny Anderson of Del City, OK; and Braydn and Seyena Baxter of Warr Acres, OK. Marie will be remembered by a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Services as casketbearers are her grandsons, Terry Raney, Len Scoggins, Jeremy Brashears, Shane Brashears, grandsons-in-law Derek Lollis and Nathan Dunn. Honorary pallbearers are sons-in-law Floyd Raney, Kendall Brashears, grandsons-in-law Robert Holcomb, Joe Puckett, and Sean Macklin. Arrangements are with B.G. Boydston Funeral Home in Lindsay, OK. Services were held on August 22, 2000 at 10:30 a.m. in Calvary Baptist Church with son-in-law Billy Joe Baxter officiating. Music will be provided by granddaughter Christie Puckett and her husband, Joe Puckett. Interment will be in Bradley Cemetery. The family requests memorials be made to the Diabetes Research Fund, Calvary Baptist Church Building Fund or a charity of your choice.
