Sylvia Mazie Whitt

Sylvia Mazie Whitt, age 91, of Lindsay, passed away Thursday, September 19, 2002 at OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She was born in Marlow, Oklahoma on October 15, 1910 to Thomas Ivie Denson and Junetta Moore Denson. She grew up in Oklahoma, Texas, and Montana. Mazie was a resident of Lindsay for the past 80 years and attended the Church of Christ, where she was a member. She was actively involved with farming, ranching, and looking after her cattle. Mazie enjoyed watching sports on the television, being with her family, reading the Bible, and going to the beauty shop. Survivors include sons, Jim Whitt and wife, Pat and Bill Whitt and wife, Zola. Grandchildren: Jim Whitt, Jr. and wife, Karen; Beth Whitt Anderson and husband, Park; Jana Whitt; Joe Whitt and wife, April; Randy Stone and wife, Beverly; Lana Stone Lewis; Cindy Whitt Shoemaker and husband, Dale; Kelly Welch; and Debra Welch Dowdy and husband, Paul. Great Grandchildren: Kyle Whitt; Brian Whitt and wife, Katie; Eric Whitt; Jonathan Whitt; Nicole Anderson Bauman and husband, Nate; Courtney Anderson; Hailey Anderson; Casey Whitt; Lauryn Whitt; Jamie Lee Stone; Calvin Stone; Greg Lewis; Genna Lewis; Gary Shoemaker; Jennifer Shoemaker Wilson and husband, Bobby; Sally Sue Shoemaker; Shane McCown; J.R. Dowdy; and Lillian Dowdy. Great great grandson Kade Bauman. Siblings: Bobby White and husband, C.E.; Audie Hayes and husband, Mart; Montie Winn; T.I. Denson and wife, Lena Faye; Rex Denson and wife, Dorothy Faye; Max Denson and wife, Dorothy Neal; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.She was preceded in death by her husband, W. L. "Lee" Whitt, on February 10, 1988. They were married October 26, 1928 in Erin Springs, Oklahoma. Mazie was also preceded in death by her father and mother, Thomas Ivie Denson and Junetta Denson; step-mother, Zettie Denson; and sisters, Beatrice Chandler and Oleta White. Services will be Monday, September 23, 2002, at 10:00 a.m., at the Church of Christ in Lindsay with J. D. Bryant, officiating and Jim Whitt, Jr. and Eric Whitt, assisting. Interment will be at Green Hill Cemetery in Lindsay. Pallbearers include Brian Whitt, Eric Whitt, Jonathan Whitt, Kyle Whitt, Calvin Stone, Nathan Bauman, and Greg Lewis. Honorary pallbearers Ray Wall, Tenys Parr, Paul Newby, Pete Strothers, Pete Hemphill, Gerold Taylor, LaRue Fox, Loyd Harmon, and Don Earl Simms. We can mourn for mother, but we should celebrate her life and her deep love for God, her family, her friends and her cattle.
