Sayle H. Smith

Sayle H. Smith, age 82, of Lindsay, OK passed away on May 31, 2002 in Norman, OK. Sayle was born on November 15, 1919 in Rogers, Arkansas to John Henry Smith and Emma Bailey Smith.He married Peggy Stockstill on February 15, 1942 in Dallas, TX. They moved to Lindsay in 1948 from Dallas, TX. Sayle was a member of the United Methodist Church in Lindsay, a member of the Masonic Lodge, and he was a master carpenter and craftsman. Sayle enjoyed fine woodworking, model ship building, photography, fly fishing, vacationing at the beach and numerous other hobbies. Above all, he cherished his home and family. Sayle was self-employed as an accountant for various business. Survivors include his wife, Peggy Smith, of the home. Two daughters, Sandra Taylor Smith and husband, Jim Hall; and Jeanne Smith.He is also survived by one sister, Jean B. Love. Grandchildren, Jeffrey Zumwalt, John Zumwalt, Evan Bigbie and Allison Bigbie. Two brothers-in-law, two sisters-in-law, many nieces, nephews and cousins. Sayle is preceded in death by both parents; and one sister, Peggy Taylor Porter. Funeral services for Sayle will be at the United Methodist Church on Tuesday, June 4, 2002 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. George Lupton conducting the service.Burial will be at Green Hill Cemetery Lindsay, OK. Pallbearers are Mike Summer, Kyle Lackey, Mike Somers, Jim Hall, Homer Rinehart and Vic Cacy.
