Paul John Sterr

November 26, 1916 - February 16, 2004

Paul John Sterr passed away February 16, 2004 at his home in Lindsay. Paul was born on November 26, 1916, in Lindsay, Oklahoma to Chris and Helen Sterr. He married Gwendolyn Lynn Sterr on December 26, 1940. To this union two children were born, Bill and Terri. Paul attended the University of Oklahoma and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Geological Engineering. He distinguished himself as a lieutenant in a Naval Air Intelligence unit as a photographic interpreter during WW2. He served in the South Pacific Theater as well as serving a tour of duty in Adak, Alaska. Mr. Sterr owned Lindsay Farm Service. He also farmed and ranched for most of his life. He was active in the oil industry, and enjoyed all aspects of Geology and Archeology. Survivors are his wife Gwen, of the home, son William (Bill) Sterr and his wife Yaney of Victoria, Texas, and his daughter Terri Sterr, of Austin, Texas. Paul has two surviving sisters, Anna Rose Kempf, and Nancy Dew, both of Lindsay. He enjoyed his three grandchildren, Jessica Sterr, Carolina Sterr, and Emily Sterr all of Victoria, Texas. His nephews are Fred Sterr, Chris Kempf and Joe Sterr of Norman and his nieces are Helen Mills, Walsh Colorado, and Anna Claassen, Estes Park, Colorado. He is preceded in death by parents, Chris and Helen Sterr, and one brother Fritz Sterr. Mr. Sterr is a member of the United Methodist Church. Memorial Services will be held Saturday, February 21, 2004 at 11:00 am, at the United Methodist Church, Lindsay, Oklahoma. In lieu of flowers, please consider the American Cancer Society if you would like to make a memorial contribution. Rev. George Lupton will give words of comfort.
