Opal Gladys Wood

Opal Gladys Wood, age 94, of Lindsay, OK passed away Friday, May 3, 2002 in Lindsay, OK. She was born September 19, 1907 in Tecumseh Indian Territory to Nathan Miller and Alice Elizabeth Hamilton Tanner. Opal moved to Lindsay when she was seven years old. In 1924 she met and married Claude McDaniel and to this union was born four children, Alvin Ray McDaniel, Marvin Lavern McDaniel, Dorlis Marie McDaniel Keeler and Nathalie Marie McDaniel Adams. Opal was a member of the First Baptist Church for many years, she loved to read her Bible and after 90 years of age she witnessed for her Lord to the girls that came to help her every day and she loved to sew. She is survived by her children, Marvin McDaniel and wife Betty of Blyhe California, Dorlis Keeler and Nathalie Adams & husband John all of Lindsay, 23 grandchildren, 52 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by both husbands, Claude McDaniel who passed away in 1958 and Earnest Wood, they were married on July 11, 1973 and he passed away in March of 1981, one son Alvin McDaniel, eight step-children, two sisters, Lena Covel and Edna Starcher, one brother, Lester Tanner and one grandson Michael Pratt. Services will be at the First Baptist Church at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 7, 2002 with Rev. Monty Baggett and Rev. John Griffith officiating. Opal will be laid to rest at Green Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bill Hall, Alvin Hamilton, Doug Pratt, Darrell Tanner, Scott Tanner and Todd Martin. Honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons of the First Baptist Church.
