Laura May Nye, 90, of Phoenix, Arizona, was born on February 5, 1910 in Texas to John W. and May Bell Simmons. She died on December 14, 2000 in Phoenix, Arizona. She is survived by two daughters and one son, Billie Dennis of Alex, OK; Ruby Heit and husband, John of Phoenix, AZ; and Charles Nye and wife, Elsa of Aquila, AZ. By twelve grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren and nine great great grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, Ollie Jeffcoat of Rush Springs, OK; and Faye Russell of Portland, Oregon. She is preceded in death by her husband, Adrian( Bob ) Nye. They were married in 1927, near Sulphur, OK. They lived in Oklahoma until the 1940?s and moved to Peoria, AZ. They worked in the vegetables and cotton fields. Then Bob went to work as a firefighter at Lukefield until the war ended. They worked on Dairy farms and cotton farms. Bob died in 1982. Laura lived with her daughter and son-in-law in Phoenix. She was a good cook and a good seamstress. She could make anything she looked at. She saw a lot in her lifetime - horses and buggies, trains and planes. She didn?t learn to drive so she walked everywhere. She is also preceded in death by one daughter, Bobbie Roberts; and by three sisters, Dorothy Lauderdale, Bernice Lowe, and Ruby Chapman; and one brother, Lester. Funeral arrangements are with B.G. Boydston Funeral Home in Lindsay, OK. Services will be held in the Boydston Funeral Chapel on Tuesday, December 19, 2000 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Bobby Ayers officiating. Interment will be in Bradley Cemetery, Bradley, OK. Pallbearers will be Jay Mann, Jim Barrington, Billy Ray Nye, Newt ye, and Sonny Mitchusson.
