Jerry T. Gamble

Jerry T. "Jay" Gamble, age 96 of Lindsay, OK passed away in Purcell, OK on February 7, 2002. He was born in Winchester, TN on November 10, 1905 to John Gamble and Annie Stephens Gamble. He has lived in the Lindsay area in Dare Community since 1927. He moved into Lindsay in 1998. His work was farming, truck farming and bailing broom corn all around the Lindsay area. He made the first hydrolic broom corn baler. Jerry was a member of Banner Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Iva Mae Gamble of the home. They were married in McClain County on July 16, 1927. He is also survived by his children, Gladys Wilkins of Riverside, CA; Pauline Lindsay, Pearlee Adams, and Bessie Gamble, all of Lindsay. Grandchildren are Jerry Wilkins, Ron Wilkins and Ruth Comings of Riverside, CA; Randy Lindsay and Paula Lindsay of Lindsay, OK; Jerri Annette Dutcher and Anthony Adams of Oklahoma City. Eight Great grandchildren and many great great grandchildren. He is also survived by three sisters, Ann, Doris and Flora; and a host of nieces and nephews and friends and neighbors. Jay was of a family of six boys and six girls. All brothers and three sisters preceded him in death. He is also preceded in death by his oldest daughter, Alliene Loree Gamble and by one son, Jerry T. Gamble, Jr. Services will be Monday, February 11, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. at the Calvary Baptist Church in Lindsay with Rev. Steve Gardner officiating. Burial will be in Blanchard Cemetery, Blanchard, OK. Pallbearers will be Cecil Smith, Tot Rogers, James Godwin, David Carey, Bob Doan and Dick Hobbs. Honorary pallbearer will be Ted Williams.
