Denver Swindell, age 87, of Lindsay, OK passed away on May 6, 2002 in Lindsay. He was born on November 4, 1914 in Sanger, TX to Charles M. Swindell and Ivory Harris Swindell. Denver has lived in Lindsay since 1927. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He was employed with Rural Electric Coop. He enjoyed rodeos, working in his yard and visiting with friends and neighbors. Denver was untiring in his devotion taking care of his wifes every need the last twelve years of her life. He was married to Nettie Elizabeth Harris Swindell on Dec. 23, 1944 she passed away June 14, 1999 in Lindsay, OK. He is survived by five sisters, Sedalia Bray, Lindsay; Obelia Bray, Big Springs, TX; Emma Dean Johnson, Lindsay; Cletia Fletcher, Lindsay; and Dennie Brown of Ft. Worth, TX and many nieces, nephews and friends. He is preceded in death by his wife; by both parents; and one sister, Cora Vaughn; and two brothers, Burnis Swindell and T. C. Swindell. Funeral services will be on Thursday, May 9, 2002 at 2:30 p.m. at the Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Bill Gentry and Rev. Steve Gardner conducting the service. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers are Ray Wall, Curtis Hayes, Johnnie Waters, Romer Dick, Delmar Payne, and Greg Watson. Honorary Pallbearers are J. K. Griffith, Price Akers, Vic Cacy, Jack Luttrell, Alton DeSpain, Joe Kennedy, LeRay Kennedy, Raymond Dew, A. G. McCaleb, Fred Mills and James Hewitt. Public viewing will be from 6 pm to 8 pm on Tuesday, 8:30 am to noon and 1 pm to 8 pm on Wednesday and 8:30 am to noon on Thursday at the funeral home.
