Curtis Gerald "Buddy" Smith, age 65, of Lindsay, OK passed away in his home on May 14, 2002. He was born on Feb. 15, 1937 in Pauls Valley, OK to Lon Smith and Versa Mae Lee Smith. Buddy was a member of the Erin Springs Baptist Church. He has lived in Lindsay most of his life. He served in the military in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He worked in the oilfield as a tank truck driver and salesman. He liked to spend time with his grandchildren and take road trips with his wife. He is survived by the following family members. His wife, Aletha Geraldine Hassler Smith, of the home. The were married in Ardmore, OK in 1961. Children, Lewis Jackson and wife, Julie of Lindsay; Linda Douthit and husband, Terry of Pauls Valley, OK; Curtis Smith and wife Sonya, Lindsay; Bobby Smith and wife, Lori, Lindsay; and Earl Smith and wife, Teresa, also of Lindsay. Grandchildren, Rachel Douthit, Anthony Smith, Austin and Allison Smith and Taylor Smith. Funeral service will be on Thursday, May 16, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. at the Erin Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Bill Love officiating. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery in Lindsay. Pallbearers will be Mark Shawley, Matt Shawley, Greg Adams, Bill Walker, Shannon Persinger, and B. K. Gibson. Honorary pallbearers will be, Red Watson, Leonard Simmons, Floyd Hilderbrandt, Red Hightower, Butch Hixon, George Webb, and Andy Geffre. There will be military honors by the Lindsay American Legion Post # 23. Memorial may be viewed online at www.boydstonfuneralhome.com Arrangements are with the B. G. Boydston Funeral Home. Public viewing will be from 1 pm to 8 pm on Tuesday, 8:30 am to noon and 1 pm to 8 pm on Wednesday, and 8 to 9 am on Thursday at the funeral home.
